This year, Berlin's museums have so many Discounts
exhibitions in store, it's just going to be

not miss Canova and the Dance at the Bode
Museum, which opens on 21 Oct with many of the sculptor's drawings and
statues. From 13 Oct, the Sammlung Scharf-Gerstenberg will be presenting
surrealist art, while from 19 Nov, the Museum Berggruen across the street
will be comparing the works of great masters such as Picasso, Cézanne, and
Matisse with those of American modernist painter George Condo.
You will have to wait until 11 Nov to delve into the hallucinogenic world of
Flemish painter Hieronymus Bosch at the Gemäldegalerie, but meanwhile
you can gaze at marvelous photography at C/O Berlin and at the Museum
of Photography (p. 42), or learn about German history at the Martin-Gropius-
Bau, where the exhibition The British View: Germany – Memories of a Nation,
opening on 8 Oct, presents 200 British Museum artefacts that outline 600
years of German history.
