The sun is shining, the birds are singing, Democracy
Berlin is green again... Profound poetry and Tragedy
aside, it just feels great to be able to
take a walk in the park without feeling 30/3/17–9/4/17
trapped under countless layers of
clothing. And with more than 40% of
its surface covered by parks and forest,
Berlin is just the perfect place for a stroll
under the trees.
This month, we decided to celebrate
the botanical side of the city with a
comprehensive list of the best plant-
related events in town, from the fabulous
spring market at Botanischer Garten to the Tulpenschau (tulip show) at Britzer
Garten (p. 10–12). But the most important green event of the month (or
decade, actually) is the opening of the IGA international garden expo at the
Gärten der Welt in Marzahn, with thousands of plant-related events spread
over 186 days – a dream come true for all garden lovers out there.
And while the city's trees are busy with their photosynthetic activity, there's
nothing like grabbing a table at one of the many cafés and watching the
reawakening of nature.
Have a great spring!
